If one car symbolizes by itself the Bugatti « Pur Sang » myth, the Bugatti Type 35 is this car. Introduced in 1924 during the Grand Prix de l’Automobile Club de France held in Lyon, the Bugatti Type 35 and its derivates will definitively make Bugatti a key player in racing.
Still today, the Type 35 holds an outstanding record of over 2,000 racing wins on the track and in hillclimbing events. Ettore Bugatti had decided to offer for sale this fabulous race car to anyone who could afford it, in order to be the leading force in racing during the late 1920s, not fearing that privateers would beat works pilots as long as a Bugatti car would win the race.
Produced between 1924 and 1931, the Bugatti T35 will be sold in 4 additional versions to the original model, all powered by the same inline 8 engine with capacities ranging from 1,991 to 2,262 cc. Approximately 640 cars will be produced over the 7 year career of the Type 35.
Following the original model, the Type 35A was released as the “Race Imitation 35A,” with a more useable engine than its Grand Prix sisters. In 1926, the Type 35 Targa Florio, later called Type 35T is released. Launched to participate in the race of the same name, it is equipped with a re-bored engine displacing 2.3 litres. The 35T is the lease popular Type 35 with only 13 units sold.
In 1927, the Type 35C appears. Considered by many as the best Type 35 with its 2-liter, 120 bhp supercharged engine, the 35C is however not the most powerful Type 35. Alongside the 35C, Bugatti released the T 35B, officially named Type 35TC since it is equipped with the Type 35T’s engine equipped with the same Roots supercharger as the Type 35C. The Type 35B developed 140 bhp and could reach 210 km/h.
The car we are offering for sale is a beautiful recreation of the rare Bugatti Type 35T. Faithful to the original Type 35T, it is equipped with several traditional accessories such as the leather bag used originally as the tool kit.
This Bugatti Type 35T is immediately available in the South of France.
