In the early 1930s, the Bugatti Type 35, the dominant force in Grand Prix racing since 1924, is already starting to become old, obsolete and is no longer competitive against the new generation of Grand Prix racers. In dire need of a replacement, Ettore Bugatti presents in 1931 the all-new Grand Prix Bugatti, the Type 51.
Even though the two cars look very much alike, they are fundamentally different in terms of engineering. The new 2300cc straight 8 engine with double overhead camshaft of the Type 51 racer developed a strong 160 bhp when the most powerful Type 35, the T35B, could only crank out 140 bhp thanks to the use of a supercharger.
The fate of the Type 51 in Grand Prix racing wasn’t up to par with the expectations of its creators. With the competition of Government-backed Italian and German brands, the Type 51 never managed to shine like its predecessor. With a single win in its career at the 1931 French Grand Prix, it ended the line of pre-war Bugatti racers.
With approximately 40 units built, the Bugatti Type 51 is rare and exceptional.
We are happy to offer for sale this beautiful Argentinian recreation of this pre-war racer.

Bugatti Type 35 T 2.3 Litre Recreation

Price: 210 000 EUR
Year: 1926
Location: Europe
Colour: Blue
Interior: Brown leather
If one car symbolizes by itself the Bugatti « Pur Sang » myth, the Bugatti Type 35 is this car. Introduced in 1924 during the Grand Prix de l’Automobile Club de France held in Lyon, the Bugatti Type 35 and its derivates will definitively make Bugatti a key player in racing.
Still today, the Type 35 holds an outstanding record of over 2,000 racing wins on the track and in hillclimbing events. Ettore Bugatti had decided to offer for sale this fabulous race car to anyone who could afford it, in order to be the leading force in racing during the late 1920s, not fearing that privateers would beat works pilots as long as a Bugatti car would win the race.
Produced between 1924 and 1931, the Bugatti T35 will be sold in 4 additional versions to the original model, all powered by the same inline 8 engine with capacities ranging from 1,991 to 2,262 cc. Approximately 640 cars will be produced over the 7 year career of the Type 35.
Following the original model, the Type 35A was released as the “Race Imitation 35A,” with a more useable engine than its Grand Prix sisters. In 1926, the Type 35 Targa Florio, later called Type 35T is released. Launched to participate in the race of the same name, it is equipped with a re-bored engine displacing 2.3 litres. The 35T is the lease popular Type 35 with only 13 units sold.
In 1927, the Type 35C appears. Considered by many as the best Type 35 with its 2-liter, 120 bhp supercharged engine, the 35C is however not the most powerful Type 35. Alongside the 35C, Bugatti released the T 35B, officially named Type 35TC since it is equipped with the Type 35T’s engine equipped with the same Roots supercharger as the Type 35C. The Type 35B developed 140 bhp and could reach 210 km/h.
The car we are offering for sale is a beautiful recreation of the rare Bugatti Type 35T. Faithful to the original Type 35T, it is equipped with several traditional accessories such as the leather bag used originally as the tool kit.
This Bugatti Type 35T is immediately available in the South of France.

Chassis N.: 506

One of the very first Bugatti manufactured in Molsheim, Germany! (As in 1913 Molsheim factory and all Alsace region was a part of Germany).
From Wikipedia:
"Upon starting operations at his new factory in Molsheim, Bugatti refined his light shaft-driven car into the Type 13 racer. This included boring the engine out to 65 mm for a total of 1.4 L (1368 cc/83 in3). A major advance was the 4-valve head Bugatti designed — one of the first of its type ever conceived. Power output with dual Zenith Carburetters reached 30 hp (22 kW) at 4500 rpm, more than adequate for the 660 lb (300 kg) car. Leaf springs were now fitted all around, and the car rode on a roughly 2 m (79 in) wheelbase.
The new company produced five examples in 1910, and entered the French Grand Prix at Le Mans in 1911. The tiny Bugatti looked out of place at the race, but calmly took second place after seven hours of racing."
The present car is in excellent working order, a full service was completed early 2010. It runs very well up to 70 Km/h and can climb any ramp with its 4 speed transmission.
